UPL has officially opened its brand new Grangemouth Service Centre where it will inspect and repair an estimated 4 million CHEP pallets per annum.
This new facility will operate on a 3 shift basis and employ over 70 workers. New “state of the art” machinery has been installed and UPL and CHEP’s considerable knowledge and experience in the area of efficient pallet inspection and repair operations has been used in designing the plant layout and machinery.
Unit Pallets was established in 1968 and operates from a ten acre site in Golborne, Warrington and a new site at Grangemouth opened in June 2009 solely for inspecting and repairing pallets. The Company has a policy of investing in high quality machinery, drying and timber stock so as to provide a professional and efficient service to its customers.
Timber pallets are a vital component in the handling, storage and distribution system. Timber in pallet manufacture is an ideal raw material because it is reusable, repairable, recyclable and very cost-effective. All softwood used in pallet manufacture is sourced from properly managed sustained sources.
